Growing the UK semiconductor industry

We are a national organisation connecting, convening and promoting the UK semiconductor industry.

Established in 2025 and funded by the UK Government, the UKSC's mission is to accelerate the scale-up and success of UK semiconductor businesses, strengthening the UK's position as a globally competitive semiconductor nation.

Working across industry, academia and government, the UKSC helps businesses grow by attracting investment, developing a highly skilled talent pipeline, and building international partnerships that unlock new commercial opportunities. It champions the UK's world-leading strengths in semiconductor design and IP, photonics, compound semiconductors, and advanced processes and materials, helping turn innovation into commercial success.

Inspiring the next generation of talent

At the UKSC, one of our key missions is to help bridge the semiconductor skills gap and encourage more people to consider a future career in our industry. We do this through signposting and highlighting relevant opportunities, as well as delivering specific programmes aimed at raising awareness among key audiences.

In August, more than 30 students from across the UK took their very first steps into the world of semiconductors at our inaugural Chip Design Summer School.

Delivered in partnership with UCL, STFC, UKESF and Tiny Tapeout, the Summer School provided a wide variety of content, from learning the fundamentals of semiconductors to allowing students to create and tape out their own chips.

The room was packed with energy, enthusiasm and curiosity across the entire seven days, and it was inspiring to see so many talented young people embrace the challenge and discover a whole new industry.

We want to go bigger, bolder and nationwide next year, so if you're a business, organisation or educator who wants to get involved, please contact us.

UK semiconductor success stories

Over the last six months, we've been touring the UK and telling the stories of the brightest minds, technologies and companies that are shaping the industry's future.
